1994, TOMY Trains

This version of Edward was motorized and included a driver. It is powered by a Double-A battery and runs on TOMY/Plarail track.

1996, TOMY/Plarail First Edition

This version of Edward is powered from his tender and runs on TOMY/Plarail/Trackmaster track. This model features a slightly different face from the later Plarail/TOMY releases, his face is also molded onto his smokebox, unlike later releases.

2002, TOMY Motor Road & Rail

This version of Edward is powered from his tender and runs on TOMY/Plarail/Trackmaster track. Unlike the earlier versions, this Edward has a slightly different face and it is separately molded.

2003, Plarail

This version of Edward is powered from his tender and runs on TOMY/Plarail/Trackmaster track. It is very similar to the 2002 TOMY Motor Road & Rail release, however, it features a more TV series-accurate white running board, and his eyes are filled in with white, unlike the TOMY Motor Road & Rail release. There is a talking variation of this model with an attached mail car.

2007, HiT Toy Company

This version of Edward is powered from his tender and runs on TOMY/Plarail/Trackmaster track. This version is nearly identical to the 2002 TOMY release however, there are a few differences such as a slightly different shade of blue being used.

2010, Fisher-Price

This version of Edward is powered from his tender and runs on TOMY/Plarail/Trackmaster track. There are significant updates to the model, such as an updated face, colored in stripes on his boiler, a screw requirement for the battery compartment, and holes being present on all of his wheels.

2012, Fisher-Price

This version of Edward is powered from his body and runs on TOMY/Plarail/Trackmaster track. His face has once again been updated to the CGI style and he has now powered with a double-A battery.

2014, Fisher-Price

This version of Edward is powered from his body with 2 triple A batteries. It features a different wheel configuration from the older versions and has the updated Trackmaster revolution spiky tires. It can only run effectively on the dark-grey Trackmaster 2 track. There is a glow-in-the-dark variation of this model.

2018, Plarail

This version of Edward is powered by his body with a double-A battery. It features a different wheel configuration from the older versions. It can run well on Plarail/TOMY/Trackmaster track.
