Personality

In Thomas and Friends, Donald and Douglas are Scottish twins that are proud, confident, and hard-working. They enjoy a joke here and there, but they know when work needs to be done. They enjoy working together and don't like being separated, with this being said they have had their quarrels.

Biography

In Thomas and Friends, Donald and Douglas came from Scotland to help Sir Topham Hatt, however, only 1 was expected. Both were given numbers (9 & 10) and started work. They knew if they were sent away they'd be scrapped, so they worked their hardest to impress Sir Topham Hatt enough to keep both of them. This came to a head when The Spiteful Brakevan was causing Douglas' trains to be late. Donald took exception to this and bumped the brake van. Donald would soon after having an accident where he backed into a signal box, this would end up being a blessing in disguise as Sir Topham Hatt had already decided to send Douglas home, however, the accident meant he'd have to keep Douglas for the time being. Douglas would later destroy The Spiteful Brakevan into tiny pieces when trying to help James up a hill. Donald & Douglas kept working into the winter where they would save Henry after he was stuck inside of a pile of snow. After this event the other engines were trying to come up with a plan to get both of the twins to stay on Sodor, Edward advised Percy to get a deputation to tell Sir Topham Hatt. Percy told the other engines what Edward had said, Gordon suggested Percy be the deputation to which he reluctantly and nervously agreed. This would lead to Sir Topham Hatt letting both Donald and Douglas stay on the railway.

In Thomas and Friends, Donald & Douglas' models were made of plastic and fitted for gauge 1 track. Both of their eyes were controlled by 2 servos that allowed his eyes to move up, down, and side to side.

Donald and Douglas would first appear in season 2 episode"Brakevan" and then make both major and minor roles in a handful of episodes in each season. They became used less and less as the show was obtained by HiT Entertainment (season 7), they would make their last model appear in the season 12 episode "Saved You". 

They would later make a surprise appearance over 5 years later in "Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure". They would later make minor and major roles in episodes from season 20 to 21, after appearing in "Big World! Big Adventures!" (2018) they haven't appeared in the television show since.

They were referred to as the "Scottish Twins" in the television series while they were known as the "Caledonian Twins" in the Railway Series
